There’s going to be a lot of money moving through the 2026 midterms. Republican committees and allied groups currently hold a sizable cash advantage nationally, while Democrats have built stronger positions in several individual races. But the number sitting in the bank is really just the starting point.
The more important question is what happens when those dollars hit the market. Campaigns are competing for inventory, attention, and voters across TV, CTV, digital, mail, and every other piece of the media mix. Having more money creates opportunities, but only if the strategy behind the spend puts it in the right places, at the right time, against the right audiences.
A war chest is only as valuable as the media plan behind it. As spending accelerates toward Election Day, the advantage won’t simply belong to whoever raises the most. It’ll belong to the campaigns that turn those dollars into efficient reach, frequency, and ultimately votes.
